Join a SIG

Our Special Interest Groups (SIGs) enable members to meet other area Alums in a small group - topic focused setting. Check out our SIG's and join one or even start one.

Members of The Wharton Club of New Jersey (WCNJ) are dynamic individuals whose pursuits span the business landscape and whose interests go well beyond the business world. If you have ever been asked the questions: What things interest you? What do you do in your spare time? What are your hobbies? - the answer is never just a simple word like “SPORTS.” More than likely, you are involved in a myriad of activities and sometimes wonder how you accomplish it all!

WCNJ offers Special Interest Groups (SIGs) to further enhance the value of membership in the Club. The Club’s primary objective continues to be business focused, as are most SIGs. But SIGs bring additional elements to the group that addresses the varied and specific interests of the membership at large. SIGs allow members to interact more often and coordinate and participate in smaller, more intimate events, as well as develop and encourage more networking among members.

Join one of the specific SIGs listed below, or start a SIG focused on a specific industry or function. Additionally, SIGs may be centered on such hobbies as wine-tasting, reading (a book club), theater, or cooking. The options abound and are limited only by the interests, needs, and desires of the WCNJ members.

Current SIGs

general_networking.jpgBusiness Leads Council - the club currently has seven such groups, each with about 10 - 15 non-competing members meeting monthly at various New Jersey locations to share business ideas, leads, and learn about each other’s business interests. Additional Leads Councils can be established in other geographic areas of NJ if there is sufficient demand; please let us know if you would like to help establish another Leads Council in your area.

Joining a SIG

If you are interested in joining a SIG, email the Club and we will get you connected.

Starting a SIG
To start a new SIG, email us to share your idea. A Club officer or Director will meet with you to help hone the intent/purpose of the SIG, and communicate it to the Club’s membership to evaluate interest. In order for an idea to become an official SIG, we expect five or more members to show interest. We then encourage a planning meeting amongst the interested members to select a group facilitator who will then liaise with a Club Officer or Director who will provide guidance in establishing the SIG. The Club will also help to communicate the SIG’s events to the general membership. Continued operation of the SIG is the responsibility of the group’s members.
